Recently awarded BBC Horizons’ 2026 Launchpad Fund, in partnership with BBC Cymru Wales and Arts Council Wales, the band Waterpistol have released new single “She Flies”.
Recorded independently, “She Flies” follows previously-released single “Felin”, alongside a live session for BBC Radio Wales with Huw Stephens. The band will be performing at this year’s FOCUS Wales as a spotlight artist for God Is In The TV Zine.
The release of “She Flies” comes with news of the band’s debut EP release, Hey Harry, which is due this summer, featuring “She Flies” and previous single “Felin.”
Of the new release, songwriter Harry Watton said:
As any good poet would say, it’s about a lot of things and nothing at all.
Formed from the remnants of various previous creative projects, Waterpistol played their debut show together in April 2023 as support for CVC’s sold-out hometown show. During the following festival season, the band appeared at FOCUS Wales, Green Man, Sŵn Festival and In It Together Festival.
The band blends the sounds of Classic Rock ’n’ Roll with the textures of ’90s Shoegaze, and their biggest influences are The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Shack and The La’s.
Working alongside producer Adam Richards, the band’s first recording sessions took place at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, whereas the six-piece have self-recorded their debut EP.
