The Worldgrass trio Tanasi have released a new song, their cover of George Harrison’s “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)” alongside a live performance video. This fit in with their mission to “spread love far and wide” and will appear on the band’s upcoming debut album, which arrives on May 8th, 2026.
Tanasi’s slide-based multi-instrumentalist, Billy Cardine, says of the track:
….recognizing the need for as many songs about love as possible, we pulled it into our repertoire.
Tanasi’s Anya Hinkle and Mary Lucey split vocal duties on the track that originally appeared on Harrison’s 1973 album, Living in the Material World. But this version leans heavily on the the trio’s musical influences, ranging from Appalachia to West Africa, South Asia, Southern Africa, and beyond.
Cardine plays chaturangui, an Indian slide instrument, designed by his teacher, Debashish Bhattacharya, as a tribute to Harrison, who helped introduce such instruments into Pop music. Layered with a dobro part, the slide guitar lines of the 1973 original are mirrored in Tanasi’s version, along with acoustic guitars and upright bass.
Hinkle says of the band:
To me, TANASI is Appalachian music without guardrails—a sound that’s a culmination of our ever-evolving, unconventional paths, shaped by unpredictable winds, formed by unexpected hands, and forged together with joyful, emergent strength.

With their Kickstarter fully supported, the band will be celebrating the release of their debut LP with a special hometown show at Asheville’s Grey Eagle on May 9th. A full list of tour dates can be found below.
