Vancouver based hypnotic Heavy Metal outfit Spell will release their new LP, Wretched Heart, on May 1, 2026, via Bad Omen Records. The album is a “journey through desperation, passion and defiance.” The single and video for “Lilac” are out now.

The music video for “Lilac” was directed by James Barry and Sean Edwards for Ramble Films.

The song “Lilac” features a guest guitar solo by former Spirit Adrift, Carcass, and Angel Witch man, Tom Draper. In the song, the title’s flower “forms an overarching metaphor for the ephemeral and transient forms of both nature and love.”

Vocalist/bassist Cam Mesmer says about the new track:

There are many things in life that disappear so quickly and will be gone immediately if we get preoccupied and forget to enjoy them and care for them. This song isn’t really about a flower.
