Nashville-based Roots Rock artist Ben Chapman has released his first single of the year, titled “Everything’s Different”, via Soundly Music. It was inspired by the events of the previous year, including marrying fellow singer-songwriter Meg McRee and welcoming their first child.
Written by Chapman, McRee and Bryan Simpson the track finds Chapman reflecting on the passage of time with a Southern soundtrack including jangling keys, organ and Chapman’s guitar playing.
It was also recently announced that Chapman has been featured in the 2026 music documentary Ten Year Town, which follows nine Nashville singer/songwriters across a pivotal stretch of their lives. The film celebrated their world premiere earlier this month at the Belcourt Theater.
Chapman says:
In a way this song was kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. When we wrote it, the hurricane that was approaching my life hadn’t hit just yet, but just a few short months later we were expecting a baby and getting married. Even though 2025 changed everything, sometimes I still feel like the same kid trying to navigate it all. I love the way a song can grow in meaning long after the day it’s written, and this one definitely has.
This marks Chapman’s second collaboration with Grannt-nominated songwriter and Producer Anderson East (Lukas Nelson, The Red Clay Strays, Chris Stapleton) following Chapman’s 2024 album Downbeat.
Aside from releasing his own music, Chapman has collaborated with Nashville artists including Muscadine Bloodline, Hayes Carll, and his wife, along with fellow couple Adam Chaffins and Brit Taylor. He’s also written songs recorded by Brent Cobb, Shelby Lynne, Flatland Cavalry and more.
Additionally, Chapman started the Nashville performance series Peach Jam, which has featured performances from artists and friends from his music community including Lainey Wilson, Kaitlin Butts, Ashley Monroe and many more.
