Central Massachusetts Emo outfit Good Sleepy has released their sophomore album, Constant Humming. The album “tackles everything from the confusion of early adulthood to fractured relationships, spiritual dissonance, and the tug-of-war between growth and regression.”

Lyrically, the record explores themes of “nostalgia, emotional backlog, and the lingering noise of unspoken feelings,” what vocalist Thomas Sullivan calls “a constant humming in the back of my mind.”

Constant Humming follows the band’s 2021 debut LP everysinglelittlebit (No Sleep Records), which was produced by Chris Freeman (Hot Mulligan) and Gary Cioni (Crime in Stereo). While their first record experimented with Ambient soundscapes blended with their Midwest Emo roots, this new record finds Good Sleepy refining a signature sound.

Sullivan says:

This album has meant everything to us over the last few years spent writing and recording. There’s a feeling of letting go of some the weight of it all now that it’s finally time for it to come out. We’ve poured our best creative and emotional energy into this album, growing a lot while we’ve worked on it. We want to thank all of our friends, family, and of course, everyone who was involved in the production and release. We are lucky to have you all, and always grateful.

Self-recorded over the course of four years in the secluded mountains of Central Massachusetts, this album was co-produced with Boston-based producer Charlie Burket (Ringpop!, Park National). It marks the first time since high school that the band of four has come together to make a cohesive body of work.
