Multi-award-winning Alternative Country artist Kyle McKearney has kicked off his next body of work with the release of “Rearview,” a song “grounded in longing, nostalgia, and reflection.” The song is influenced by “the feelings that remain once a decision has already been made.”

McKearney shares:

I had this lyric idea, ‘you’ve been taking up space in my rearview,’ for about a year before I got around to writing the song. I’m sure glad I finally did. ‘Rearview’ is a ‘can’t get over you’ track. A heated breakup leads us down a road of memories and nostalgia. Sometimes our feelings for someone are much stronger than our need to get over them.

“Rearview” is the lead single from McKearney’s upcoming album Wildflower, his first project recorded entirely in the home studio he built himself. It marks a more contemporary direction in his songwriting and sound.

McKearney’s sophomore album, A Traveler’s Lament, earned 11 awards, including the 2023 Canadian Country Music Award for Alternative Country Album of the Year. His 2025 album, To The River, explored “surrender, identity, and connection.”
