Galectstasy & mike watt Trio Team up For ‘Wattzotica’

Galecstasy has entered into a collaboration with esteemed Punk Rock bassist mike watt in an improvised trio configuration under the name Galecstasy & mike watt Trio, and they will release the album Wattzotica. The album was engineered, edited and mixed by Primary Mystical Experience. The album is being released by Mystery Circles on January 28, 2026.

mike watt says:

If you really want to keep from doing reruns, same ol’ same ol, you put yourself in situations where everybody’s got something to teach ya.

This trio is cross-generational. Galecstasy, an experimental duo out of Los Angeles that formed in 2018 and has since released several albums, has also staged a guerrilla punk happening in a laundromat in LA’s Highland Park neighborhood.

Raquel Bell adds:

Watt comes in with something different than anybody else could come with. There’s this structure only Watt will play, and then I can do something weird that I could never do with another bass player. This is why this record and all the records that are still coming are so special. We love this music.

Watt observes:

What I really dig about Coltrane and Eric Dolphy is they loved to prac (practice). Real prac is at the gig. Trippy thing about this proj (project) here is not a lot of prac. It’s more of a real-time capture. Like when Black Flag and The Minutemen did that MinuteFlag record, it’s kind of like that.

Watt’s philosophy colors the album:

If you’re always the boss, you miss out learning lots of shit because you always get your way. It’s more about taking turns.
