The historically-garbed New Jersey-based Rock band Sloth have released their sophomore album, Another Seat at the Table. A combination of genres, Another Seat at the Table is an album that includes Blues Rock jams, banjo Folk anthems, and Jazz ballads. Sloth binds it all together with “absurd world building.” The track “NYU Kids” is out now.

Another Seat at the Table is a concept album, “centered on a single overarching idea” that follows a narrative around “The Sires”, a modern medieval religious order “grappling with the culture and customs of their system of faith.” it remains, in many ways, anything but traditional.

The song “NYU Kids” follows the story of how “The Sires” take a trip to New York City.

In fact:

Upset after getting rejected from a job opening at the Greenwich Village Trader Joe’s, The Sires find themselves wandering around aimlessly, until they uncover the conspiracy that prevented them from getting hired at the Trader Joe’s to begin with.

On stage, Sloth leans into the theatrical elements evident in their music. Recent performances have included a full-on joust, complete with full Renaissance-faire garb, at a New Brunswick backyard show, as well as a raucous set for a local radio station fundraiser.

With this album, Sloth hopes to “remind listeners just how beautiful the small things in life can be.” The band continue to builld a “world of craft, humor, and heart” with Another Seat at the Table.
