Maui-born Country singer and Willie Nelson protégé Lily Meola has returned with her new single Bolo Blues.” The song picks up a specific reason for heartache that isn’t as frequently expressed in music.

Meola shares:

This song is about loving someone who is still searching for themselves. They always come running back but it feels bittersweet every time. It’s about all the things that remind you of them and that feeling.

“Bolo Blues” is the debut single off Meola’s forthcoming album. Performing locally from a young age, she soon caught the ear of fellow Hawaiian resident Willie Nelson. He took her under his wing, taking her out on the road, and working with her in the studio (including a duet for Nelson’s album To All The Girls…). Other mentors include Grammy-winning producer Bob Rock and Jackson Browne, who served as her first songwriting coach.

Meola’s most recent releases have been her 2024 EP Heartbreak Rodeo, which featured collaborations with Lukas Nelson, Luke Niccoli, and Davis Naish. Then, earlier this year, she released the EP Postcards To Heaven, a “tribute to her late mother honoring her memory and the power of everlasting love.”
