Danheim is a project appearing in the Nordic Folk, Viking and World music zones alongside groups like Heilung and Wardruna. His work is best known from multiple seasons of the show Vikings. On his upcoming ninth album, which is his first since signing with Season of Mist, the project’s Producer Reidar Schaefer Olsen is continuing to evolve his Nordic sound by “journeying home.” The album Heimferd arrives on October 31, 2025.
Danheim has recently released “Yggdrasil II” as the third and final single from Heimferd. The song “extends the tree that’s held sacred in Norse cosmology into the realms of memory, land and lineage.” It closes the album on a positive and timeless note.
“Yggdrasil II” revisits one of the major tracks from Danheim’s third album, Fridr. The track, like Heimferd, resists a linear narrative. “
Olsen says:
For me, Heimferd is a journey home, not to a physical place, but to my ancestry, honoring the weight of old paths while also forging new ones.
