Singer/songwriter Paul Schalda (Sha La Das, Paul & The Tall Trees, Charles Bradley) recently announced the forthcoming release of his debut solo album, Lately. Lately is due November 7, 2025 on Skylark Soul Co. The following Saturday, November 15, Paul Schalda will be supporting Midlake at Tulips in Fort Worth, TX to celebrate the album’s release.
Schalda has also shared the newest single off the album, “Can You See Yourself With Me.”
Schalda calls the song “An anthem. A sing along. We’ve all been there. Hoping someone feels the same way you do about them.”
Schalda’s collaborator and Producer, Jeff “Skin” Wade, while speaking on the origins of the song, says:
Allen Toussiant had an influence on our approach. Love this shit. Having Kevin Howard, Victor Axelrod and Robert Ellis all take part in keys was cool and effective.

Schalda, who was born in Staten Island, and has moved to Texas, says of the album:
The goal was to mix the energy of my East Coast family with my new Texas family. [It’s] …an ode to the human experience, of leaving all my roots behind and navigating new terrain.
Schalda is supporting Lately with shows across Texas and on both coasts, sometimes alone, sometimes as a duo or with various permutations of the Lately studio band. His live sets also feature songs from his earlier incarnations and, when possible, his [father] Pops alongside him on stage.
He concludes:
I’d like listeners to get a sense of hope for humanity. That moment when sonic vibration hits you, you uncontrollably get goosebumps. It’s rare. It’s real. I want that connection.
