Jamie James was formerly the leader of Rockabilly trio The Kingbees, a member of Dennis Quaid & The Sharks, and has shared the stage with the late Harry Dean Stanton.
He recently released his solo album, Straight Up, and this Fall, he’s celebrating its vinyl pressing, arriving today on September 12, 2025, via Oglio Records. It also coincides with 45 years in music for James.
Adding to his celebration, James has also unveiled a brand-new lyric video for Straight Up track“Septuagenarian Blues”.
Straight Up delivers ten songs of Roots Rock, Blues, and Americana with “no filters and no frills.” Now available on limited-edition translucent red vinyl, the record “takes on new life in the analog format that best matches its spirit.” A small number of signed copies are also available for fans.
Recorded with longtime friends and Sharks bandmates Tom Walsh (drums), Ken Stange (organ), and Tom Mancillas (bass), the album “carries the weight and perspective of a life spent making music”.
James says:
There’s just something about hearing these songs on vinyl. The sound is warmer, the stories hit a little deeper, and it feels like the record is exactly where it belongs—on a turntable.
