Netherlands-based band Distant was founded in 2014, and has since then released Tyrannotophia (2019), the Aeons of Oblivion trilogy (2021), and Heritage (2023), blending Deathcore, Death Metal, and Beatdown. Now, the quartet are releasing Tyrannotophia Redux: “a completely re-imagined, re-recorded, reinforced” Tyrannotophia. It is out now via Unique Leader Records.

“We’re beyond stoked to finally announce ‘Tyrannotophia Redux’ — a full re-imagining of our 2019 record ‘Tyrannotophia’. This isn’t just a re-master — we went all in.
We re-recorded all the vocals from scratch, reworked a few of the guest spots, and gave the entire album a brand new mix and master by Simone Pietroforte to bring the production up to the same punishing level as our latest releases.
The ‘Redux’ features some crushing new and returning guest vocal performances:
‘Zeroten’ now features Harry Davies of Guilt and Ben Mason of Bound in Fear
‘Abhorrence’ features Josh Davies of Ingested
‘Heirs of Torment’ features Lukas Nikolai of Mental Cruelty
‘Tyrannotophia’ was a turning point for us when it first dropped, and we wanted to give it the treatment it deserves with the sound we’ve built over the years since. Same lore, same brutality — but bigger, heavier, and more refined.”
To coincide with this release, Distant will be touring worldwide in the coming months: First, across North America with Ingested, Ov Sulfur, Cell, and Crucifiction, before heading to the UK and Europe in early 2026 for a trek alongside Sylosis, Revocation, and Life Cycles.
With their latest release, Tsukuyomi: The Origin (2024), marking their 10-year anniversary, Distant continues to develop their sound and pursue their unique journey.
