Julia, Julia, the solo project of Julia Kugel from The Coathangers, has shared second album single from her upcoming album Sugaring a Strawberry. The track is titled “A Love That Hurts” and is accompanied by a video created by Scott Montoya. The album arrives August 9th, 2025, via Suicide Squeeze/Happy Sundays.

“A Love That Hurts,” has an “unraveling” feeling, and like the rest of the upcoming album, it “doesn’t push toward resolution” as it faces pain, though it does pursue beauty.

Sugaring a Strawberry is Julia, Julia’s second solo album, following the project’s launch in 2022. Julia Kugel is also the co-founder of the free music event Happy Sundays Fest in her home of Long Beach, California.

She co-founded the event with her husband Scott Montoya and it is a music, arts, small business, and community-focused event coming up on August 23rd and 24th.
