Multi-award winning Canadian Country-Rock and Roots artist Antonio Larosa has returned with new single “Turn Me Loose.” The track was particularly inspired by the spirit of Dwight Yoakam and The Mavericks and got support in its development from an unusual source.
The idea for the song first took shape in Larosa’s living room and kitchen, where he often plays new material between gigs. While humming the chorus one afternoon, his 2-year-old daughter started singing the melody back to him, and didn’t stop for two weeks.
Larosa says:
That’s when I knew the hook had something. If it sticks with a toddler for that long, it might be worth finishing.

Recorded live off the floor with an all-Canadian band, “Turn Me Loose” has an unfiltered feel. The release is accompanied by a vintage-tinged visualizer, directed by Michael Makaroff.

The new single follows his recent release “Tried and True”, which introduced the first glimpse of a larger project from Larosa set to culminate in a 2026 album. He appeared recently opening for Kyle McKearney’s Western Canada tour, making his Toronto showcase debut at NXNE, earning the 2025 BCCMA award for Roots Artist of the Year, and being selected for the RBCxMusic First Up program.
Antonio Larosa has also announced his Roots, Roads & Reefs Tour with special guest Emmett Jerome, a run of shows across Vancouver Island this September. Tickets are on sale now.
