Freezing Cold have announced their sophomore album, Treasure Pool, due out August 1, 2025 via Don Giovanni Records. Inspired by ’90s Alternative and Indie sounds, the new collection is heralded by album opener “Backlight”, out now alongside a video. The track was inspired by “the discovery of an old box of undeveloped film and what surfaces from reflecting on the past through the unearthed images.”
Jeff Cunningham shares:
If you’re part of the disposable camera generation, you probably know the feeling of flipping through a stack of old photos and getting hit with a flood of emotions. Some are total mysteries, completely lost in time. Since you made that 4×6 memory, life added context. People have passed away. Others, you thought you’d know for years to come. Some of those expectations held true, others not quite. We tried to capture the weird mix of nostalgia and surprise on what is probably the poppiest song on the album.
Freezing Cold was co-founded in 2017 by experienced Indie-Punk musicians Angie Boylan (touring/session drummer in Sleater-Kinney, Aye Nako, Cheeky) on drums and Jeff Cunningham (Bridge & Tunnel, Ordinary Lives) on guitar and vocals, now joined by bassist Leanne Butkovic.
They tracked these 10 new songs over two years and three separate sessions at Lakehouse Recording Studios in Asbury Park, NJ with friends Eric Bennett and Marissa Paternoster (Screaming Females).

Freezing Cold’s Treasure Pool is a collection of Rock songs about “getting older, finding new ways forward, and staying curious.”
