Tamás Kátai‘s 20 year old project Thy Catafalque extends well beyond the rigid guidelines of Black Metal. Though originally only intended for the studio, he has continued to bring the avant-garde to the project. Most recently, it has grown into a live act, with an ever-expanding cast of collaborators, and will be performing at Hellfest, Rockstadt Extreme, Alcatraz and other European festivals this summer before embarking on their first-ever tour of Latin America.

As they prepare for the stage, Thy Catafalque have released a live video from last year’s hometown performance of the heaviest song off their twelfth album.

Thy Catafalque’s twelfth album, XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek, ties both to its creator’s past and the history of his native Hungary.

Kátai says about the album and this summer’s touring:

For this album, I felt it was time to move in a different direction, whatever that direction might be, but XII still possesses the dreaminess that I’ve always associated with Thy Catafalque. This is a massive step-up for Thy Catafalque. We are very excited to play for our fans in places where we’ve never gone before.
