Drew Pulliam’s “Back Of My Mind” Sheds Light On Inner Loneliness

Arkansas native Drew Pulliam has announced his new album with the release of its title track, “Back of My Mind.” The singer/songwriter’s project will be out September 12, 2025 via Producer Steve Azar’s Mississippi-based Ride Records.

Building on his 2023 debut EP, 16 Going on 60,  Pulliam’s new album shows a more focused sense of identity and sound with the artist playing nearly every instrument on the album himself.

Grammy-winning artist and producer Steve Azar, has been mentoring and working with the young artist since 2022.

Pulliam says of the album:

Most of the songs on this album are based on relationships, and the thoughts people have when going through them, that stay in the back of your mind. The title track is about the sense of loneliness that washes over you after something’s over, but you don’t necessarily want people to see. So, you put up a brave front, and that’s what that song is about. Writing is a little like therapy for me. I get to work out my feelings in the songs, and they serve as snapshots of where I was in my life at that point in time.

The record pays tribute to a wide range of influences, from Leonard Cohen to artists like The Lumineers, Ray LaMontagne, The Avett Brothers, Shakey Graves, Fleet Foxes, Dan Auerbach, and Caamp, as well as the orchestral style of Leonard Bernstein and The Beatles. Pulliam also draws creative fuel from the works of Southern novelists such as Flannery O’Connor, William Faulkner, and Harry Crews.
