Judy Blank’s “Killing Time” Takes On Absurd Beauty Standards

Dutch-born, Nashville-based Indie artist Judy Blank has announced her Rounder Records debut album, Big Mood, showcasing four tracks from her 2025 Lil Mood multi-track single, and new Power Pop anthem “Killing Time”, as well as many more, totally 13 tracks.

Big Mood is Produced and recorded by Blank’s long-time collaborator Roy van Rosendaal (Snarky Puppy, Bombay) at Studio Ruisendaal in the woods just outside Utrecht, Netherlands. The 13-track album offers an eclectic sound. Blank is “unafraid to shine a light on mental health, climate change, and social injustice, always standing up for the underdogs.”

For “Killing Time,” Blank “takes a swing at beauty standards.” The song “pokes holes in the glossy expectations of modern life: from magazine covers to carefully curated online selves.”

Blank says:

I wrote ‘Killing Time’ about the absurdity of chasing perfection when time doesn’t wait for any of us. I mentally transported myself back to my high school days, when that body self-awareness crept in for the first time during a random PE class at the local swimming pool on a hot summer day. Never forget. Existential dread hits us all at some point, and I’m still figuring it out.
