Santiago, Chile’s Chicarica are heralding the release of their sophomore album, Invierno en la playa, out May 30th, 2025 with new single “Parará.” This track follows lead single, “Antes del día.” Created entirely independently, Invierno en la playa sees the Chilean Synthpop trio entering a new sound, where they “kick up the BPM while retaining their psychedelic roots.”

In the song, lead singer Lore dreams of deserts and oceans in her mind, again recalling the juxtaposition at play in the album’s title. Rather than fear the world’s mysteries, “Parará” dives into them.

Chicarica consists of Lorena Pulgar (vocals and synths), Martín Pérez Roa (synths), and Felipe Zenteno (synths). Recorded in both Santiago, Chile and Coatepec, México, Invierno en la playa kicks up the tempo for the band, who began with a sound rooted in lofi psychedelics. It’s “an album for the dance floor” that uses “billowy synths and airy vocals.”
