Los Angeles-based, Canadian-born singer/songwriter Jadea Kelly has released a deluxe re-issue of her album Weather Girl, featuring two new bonus tracks, “Friday,” and “Without Me,” featuring Erin O’Neill.
Regarding “Friday”, Kelly told The Bluegrass Situation:
This is a very simple, feel-good song about staying in and doing absolutely nothing on a Friday night. Since removing alcohol from my life two-and-a-half years ago and entering my late thirties, the weekend has a different mood and intention. It’s sacred, quiet and filled with self-care.
Previously released in October 2024, Weather Girl was Produced primarily by Jim Bryson (Kathleen Edwards, Ken Yates) and Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Dashboard Confessional) awith songwriting credits from Garrison Starr, Robby Hecht and Ryan O’Reilly, among others. Weather Girl marked Kelly’s fifth studio album, following 2022’s Roses.
Kelly spends her time writing and living between rural Ontario, Canada and Los Angeles, CA. Awarded Contemporary Singer of the Year’ at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, her music has been featured on Lifetime Network feature No One Would Tell, ‘Station 19’ (Hulu / ABC) and the 2017 CBC Rio Paralympics Terry Fox Tribute. Kelly has co-written and toured with the likes of Whitehorse, Catherine MacLellan, Royal Wood, The Good Lovelies, The Digging Roots, and Joey Landreth.
