Brooklyn, NY four-piece Activity have announced an upcoming album titled A Thousand Years In Another Way, recorded with Producer Jeff Berner (from Psychic TV and Shilpa Ray), due for release on June 6th, 2025 on Western Vinyl.

The album announcement also brought the release of new single “In Another Way”, accompanied by a complementary video directed by Steven Levine, who up until recently played drums with the band.

The current lineup of Activity features vocalist and guitarist Travis Johnson (from Grooms), bassist Bri DiGioia, guitarist Jess Rees (from Russian Baths), and new drummer Brian Alvarez (from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Peel Dream Magazine) has since joined after A Thousand Years In Another Way was recorded.

The track “In Another Way” opens the album, introducing its central themes of “alienation and longing.” It includes a narrative “about a person struggling with chaos while seeking meaningful connection.”

According to Travis Johnson, “In Another Way” is:

…a way of letting off a bunch of aggression, rage, and resentment at things not being the way they should be, both personal and global (wishing things were “another way”), and feeling completely impotent about it except when playing the song.

Regarding the video, Johnson shares:

It was shot in a neighborhood hangout, Film Noir Cinema. The owner is a big obscure movie and music guy and it seemed perfect. Also, one of my favorite movies is Mulholland Drive, and it seemed fun to do a reference to the Club Silencio scene as a nod to David Lynch following his passing.

Regarding the album, Johnson says:

Evil is very real and having its way, and love is also real and hasn’t lost yet.

The album captures the heavy feeling of being alive right now, but doesn’t try to explain this time we’re living in. It reflects “the surreal, dreamlike (or nightmarish) rhythm of daily life.”

Ahead of the album release, Activity is set to play a few shows this month:
