LA-based, New Zealand-born artist Lisa Crawley recently released the single and video, “What You Can Do.” This was the first track to be released from her upcoming EP, New Girl Syndrome, set for release on April 25, 2025.
Written from “personal experience” and “dedicated to the world’s people pleasers,” the track “What You Can Do” acts as “a gentle reminder that we as humans are more than our output.”
Crawley says:
I wrote ‘What You Can Do’ about the constant questioning of my identity outside of my career as a musician and the struggle of saying no to work or people/situations that you don’t want to be in. The best time to listen is when you’re coming home from an overwhelming day at work; when you need encouragement to say no to someone or something; or after that weird gig you should have said no to.
Of the music on the track, she adds:
It’s a nice meeting of classic/vintage arrangements with some more modern elements. It reflects me both musically and lyrically.

Produced by John Spiker, the single’s video was directed, filmed and edited by William Cook.
Crawley explains that while filming the video, her car broke down on the freeway, which she felt really fit the track:
The video was filmed out in the desert at Joshua Tree with Will Cook, from afternoon to the morning. That was quite fitting, for a song that’s about running out of gas in the tank.
A four-time APRA Silver Scroll Award nominee, Crawley has opened for Suzanne Vega, John Mayer, Jools Holland, Paul Weller and Simply Red. Most recently, Lisa donned her acting hat to star as “GIRL” in the Tony Award-winning musical Once.
