Denver-based sextet Clay Street Unit has released their new single “Let’s Get Stoned,” the first new music on their label, Monument Records who they joined in December 2024. The song “tells the story of a couple going through tough times, but through it all they still have each other.” The band adds: “Perhaps having a little bit of whiskey and weed left over helps too.”
Lead singer/songwriter Sam Walker, who penned the song, says:
Throughout this record, there’s an underlying idea of enjoying a simple life on your own terms. That’s what ‘Let’s Get Stoned’ is about. It’s a sweet, heartfelt love song about two people who don’t have much…but what they do have is enough.
Clay Street Unit formed in Denver in 2021, with band members hailing from a wide range of areas including Montgomery, AL, Charlottesville, VA, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA, Denver, CO and Washington DC. Their various backgrounds and influences inform their blend of Folk, Rock, Bluegrass, Country, and Appalachian music.
The band will have more new music to come, and will hit the road this Spring, which will include a co-headlining tour with Bluegrass outfit Shadowgrass. Clay Street Unit will play a number of festivals that include DelFest, The Big Ponderoo, Hogs For The Cause, and Red Bluff.
The band will make their debut at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, supporting Kitchen Dwellers and Leftover Salmon in May.
