Philadelphia-based Indie Rock quartet Mo Lowda & the Humble have announced their fifth studio album, Tailing The Ghost, due out June 20th, 2024. Recorded entirely on the road while traveling across America, the project’s first sample arrives with “Canary,” which explores “a promising new love” and is accompanied by an animated music video.

The group has also announced a lengthy North American tour this summer and Fall, with support from French Cassettes and Illiterate Light and festival appearances at Boston Calling, Green River and more.

The album was also written fully on the road with four members setting up their instrument stations in a circle, facing each other and working through the arrangements in real time. Views in Joshua Tree, Lake Travis, TX, Colorado, and Tennessee inspired their arrangements, taking on the energy of the environments in which they were created.

Jeff Lucci (bass, guitar, keyboard, vocals) explains:

More spontaneity, gut and sense of self assurance was embodied in my approach to writing and recording this record than any other. It inspired confidence–the cocktail of quickly writing something and recording it rid the band of self-doubt.

Written on a fan-gifted Canary Yellow custom Fender Telecaster and recorded while looking out at the vast Joshua Tree desert, “Canary” delves into “the uncertainty of a potential new relationship.”

Jordan Caiola (lead vocals, guitar, bass) says:

It focuses on the struggle of allowing oneself to fully open up, let it naturally unfold & trust the trajectory–something the narrator has previously (unsuccessfully) grappled with.

The accompanying animated music video by Taras Merenkov captures the “blend of nervousness and excitement of something new.”
