Krautrock band Zement have released an over 9 minute track and video, “Journeys To A Beautiful Nowhere” from their upcoming album Passagen, which arrives February 14th, 2025 from Crazysane Records.

Passagen takes their work in new directions, offering more “Disco, punch, glitter, Motorik beats, lyrics and even more Jazz.” It is the “relentless unabated meditation on the architecture of the mind and the movement of bodies.”

Philipp Hager comments on the single and video:

“The song “Journeys to a Beautiful Nowhere” is one of the standout tracks on the new album. As the fourth track, it marks a pivotal turning point in the journey the narrator undertakes. Spanning over nine minutes, this sonic wormhole explores life’s small and profound questions—examined, tested, and weighed with care.

The music is intense, pulsating, and teeters on the edge of control. Wobbling guitars, dreamy synths, and a spoken-word stream of consciousness intertwine with the evolving dialogue between Christian’s dynamic snare drum work and the drum machines. Together, they create a hypnotic pull that grows increasingly trippy in the song’s second half.

The accompanying video, directed by Harald Retzbach and edited by Vasco Cappai, beautifully complements the song’s essence and mood with melancholic undertones. Here, melancholy becomes both beautiful and sad, reflecting life in all its many forms.“
