Multi-award winning Americana artist with Métis heritage, Kyle McKearney has announced his third studio album, To The River. Its title track has also been released.

The album was co-produced by McKearney and Russel Broom, and mixed by Grammy Award winner Vance Powell. It will arrive on April 25, 2025. McKearney will also kick off his Western Canadian tour that night with an album release party at Calgary’s King Eddy.

The title track was co-written by McKearney with longtime collaborators Aaron Pollock and Lydia Sutherland, and was years in the making. It focuses on “faith, surrender, and resilience.”

McKearney says:

It’s a track that had lingered for a long time. It cinched itself together as the pieces slowly appeared. The man in this story resigns himself to the river’s current as an act of both faith and surrender. Often a fine line. I love an epic tale and think that this is one of the most interesting things I’ve written. Bluegrass with a string quartet….Voilà!

McKearney’s latest track is the seventh single to be released from the 13-song collection. The second to last concluded with a live performance on the season 18 finale of Heartland, “Wedding Day“, and the latest is fundraising track “Alberta, Save My Soul” which contributed over $11K to Alberta wildfire relief.

On putting together this upcoming record, McKearney explains:

The album has been such a treat to make. I checked so many big things off of my bucket list. From having Vance Powell mix it to having one of the best fiddlers on earth (Stuart Duncan) play on it. I am still beside myself about it all. I’ve discovered that there is a theme of surrender and redemption. As I get older, I become more and more aware of the value of the time that we get on this earth and of how important it is to live our truth and to say I love you. This record sings of family, hardship, my home in Alberta and of the things that connect us all.
