Rounder Records has released Heat Comes Down (Deluxe), an expanded version of the 2023 album from singer/songwriter John R. Miller.
Heat Comes Down turned one year old last October and to celebrate the milestone, Rounder released the exclusive 7” vinyl Wayward Wind, which contained two unreleased tracks from the original album recording sessions.
Those tracks, “Outset Of The Breeze” and “Garden Of Fools”, are now available digitally for the first time on Heat Comes Down (Deluxe). Both songs have been incorporated separately into the original sequence, thus “enhancing the vibe and flow of the album” rather than tacking them on the end as bonus tracks.
Miller says:
I guess to me, these weren’t b-sides or bonus tracks or whatever, they were just part of the Bomb Shelter session when we made it and wouldn’t fit on a 12″ record. Placing them among the tracklisting instead of tacking them on isn’t something I’d consider to be an unusual move, as much as it was simply completing the album as we intended. I’d maybe have thought it a little bit lazy or flippant of me to leave them out of the sequence now, when they were originally a part of it.

Originally released as a five-song live performance video project via YouTube, the audio recordings of Miller’s Fireside Sessions Vol. 1 were also made available at DSP’s in late 2024. Stay tuned for news about the upcoming release of Fireside Session Vol. 2 in early 2025.
