Singer/songwriter Chris Berardo has released the single and video for “Take Me Back” from his upcoming album Wilder All The Time, which will be released on February 28, 2025 via Blue Élan Records.
Berardo reflects about the song and video:
If you can hold onto the good memories and dig into the hope for the future, then you’ve got something. This song, for me at least, touches on the idea of having to face up to some tough, grown-up life issues and maybe thinking back and wishing for a simpler time.
Featured on the new track is Grammy award-winning Producer and Austin City Limits “Hall of Fame” musician Lloyd Maines on pedal steel.
“Take Me Back” holds special significance for Berardo as it also harkens a rather rough time in his life.
He shares:
A few years back I got really sick. Up until then, I had barreled through the world like a wide-eyed teenager. On the days when some of the challenges would get the better of me, I’d find myself thinking back a little longingly to being a hassle-free kid, when everything was just a pure and fearless possibility. I was lucky and got fixed up. I feel great, but on those rough days, I can sing this song and feel rejuvenated and lucky.
Alongside the new video and upcoming album, Berardo can be found on the Blue Élan compilation Operation Mend: Hope 2 which was recently released and is available now on CD and digitally on DSPs. Contributing his cover of Nick Lowe’s classic “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding”, Berardo joins other labelmates Colin Devlin of The Devlins (“People Still Believing”), Morgan Myles (“I Will Always Love You” ) and Bernie Barlow (“I Shot the Sheriff”).
Inspired by the work done by UCLA Health Operation Mend, Operation Mend: Hope 2 hopes to raise awareness for UCLA Health Operation Mend, a program “dedicated to providing free specialized medical and psychological care for our nation’s post 9/11 warriors injured in the line of duty, and their caregivers.”
Berardo will be playing a handful of East Coast dates before the year’s end as a precursor for 2025’s active schedule.
