Matt Costa’s ‘Explorations Of Sight And Sound Vol. 2’ Film + Soundtrack Shines A Light On California’s Indigenous Cultures

Indie singer/songwriter Matt Costa’s latest film project was created in collaboration with Adventure.com and is titled Explorations of Sight and Sound, Vol 2. Out now, it follows Explorations of Sight and Sound, Vol. 1 as an audio-visual experiment.

Matt Costa explains:

This volume has music that was recorded in the field and on the land that has always been sacred to its traditional owners. It follows me and my wife Tayla Costa through Indigenous California to uncover song and story.

In partnership with Rivian, A New Earth Project and Visit Redding, Vol. 2 is a 16mm film with an original score performed live to screen. Portion of ticket proceeds from the live event will be donated in support of Indigenous California causes.

Costa adds:

This film aims to champion some of the people and stories that make California’s Indigenous cultures so special; and highlight how much we, as a society, can learn from them.

Matt Costa will be scoring the film live at the Rivian South Coast Theater on Nov 30, 2024.
