Get A First Glimpse Of Max Wareham’s Banjo-Based Debut Album ‘Daggomit!’

Banjo player, songwriter, and author Max Wareham has announced a debut album of banjo-focused tunes due out on February 21st, 2025, titled Daggommit! The original songs also feature a cast of Nashville Bluegrass pickers. The single and video for “Hard Times Are Far Behind” are out now, the latter of which features the band playing the song in the studio.

Produced by Bluegrass titan Peter Rowan, and recorded by multi-Grammy-winning engineer Sean Sullivan, the album features Chris Eldridge and David Grier on guitar, Laura Orshaw on fiddle, Chris Henry on mandolin, Mike Bub on bass, and Larry Atamanuik on snare drum. Meanwhile, the songs are centered around Wareham’s life experiences in the form of stories.

The single “Hard Times Are Far Behind” was co-written with Rowan, and sets the stage of a narrator “far from home, and looking forward to returning to a familiar place.”

Wareham is currently touring with Max Wareham & the National Bluegrass Team, featuring international mandolin player Jean Baptiste Cardineau, singer and guitarist Walker Russell, and Boston bassist Emma Turoff.
