Los Angeles-based Rock group Andrew Browning and the 9 Pound Hammers are back with “Preachers of Doom,” the second single from their forthcoming album Love is a Beautiful Thing, set for release on November 22nd, 2024. The single “represents Browning’s latest exploration of California’s gritty and complex ethos.”
Browning explains about the new track:
Preachers of Doom represents both a rejection of mainstream media disaster porn and an embrace of individual consciousness. It is inspired by the black consciousness of the soul music of the 1950s and 1960s.
“Preachers of Doom” follows the release of “Econoline,” which captures the struggle of life on the road.

With Love is a Beautiful Thing, Browning and his band, the 9 Pound Hammers, teamed up with longtime producer Derek O’Brien (Social Distortion, Agent Orange). This album was recorded at 4th Street Recording in Santa Monica, a choice “that reflects Browning’s desire to root his work in California’s unique sound and culture.”
Browning adds:
This record is a tribute to both the grit and beauty of California, exploring love in all its messy, unrefined facets.
