Father-and-sons trio The Discarded are returning with their sixth full-length studio album, The Green Door, set to release on November 25, 2024. Leading the album is first single, “Testify!”.

The song originated from a jam session between guitarist JP Wasson and his son, Caden, and was further transformed by bassist Jared Wasson’s live performances. “Testify!” has a Southern preacher vibe, but a Punk ethos.

The song evolved when bassist Jared introduced a new bassline during live performances, diverging from the original recording. The band re-recorded the track to capture the heightened intensity. Guitarist Michael McKenzie contributed riffs that meshed, while Carmen Toth’s background vocals completed the track.

The Green Door highlights The Discarded’s evolving sound, merging Garage Rock with Punk and elements of Classic Rock. The album was produced by John Critchley (Elliott BROOD, Dan Mangan.) Michael McKenzie was also integral to shaping the album’s sonic identity.

Recently joined by Ben Keestra on guitar, The Discarded have played nearly 100 live shows, sharing stages with The Sonics, Teenage Head, and The Forgotten Rebels.
