Lara Ruggles Allows For Our Mistakes With “Love Me Instead”

In Lara Ruggles’ upcoming record Anchor Me, the Tucson songwriter “looks back on the truths she has uncovered in the span of over a decade.” That particularly pertains to relationships lost, discovered, and saved.

In the record’s opening track, “Love Me Instead,”out now, Lara Ruggles examines “the complexities of love,” including making mistakes.

She comments:

Love often looks much different in practice than what we ask of it.

Having spent time in Colorado, in 2016 Ruggles returned home to Tucson where she started her project Sharkk Heartt, which allowed her to explore Electro-Pop. It was only recently that Ruggles found herself collecting songs (and writing a few new ones) that didn’t seem to have a place to go, songs that felt too intimate and personal for Sharkk Heartt. Those became the songs on Anchor Me.
