Alternative/Indie Rock band Pretty Jane have released their new single “Stand So Close” that is out now along with a music video. In support of their new music they will be headlining in Nashville at Light The Nations Festival on October 19th.
The song has both darker and lighter elements, including pastiche, to illustrate “the jealous and possessive side of desire.” A saxophone solo adds a nostalgic flair, as the song turns on “wanting someone as you wonder if they want you back.” This music leads on to a planned 2025 EP.
The band says:
Yearning for someone is one of those emotions that’s so sweet it’s nearly unbearable, which is exactly what we wanted the song to feel like. It’s definitely a sarcastic approach. Putting an over-the-top, fancy arrangement over a song about some viscerally unpleasant emotions just felt right. Somehow Luca and I keep ending up in parallel romantic situations. We both found ourselves in this intimate tension with another person, where wondering what they’re thinking becomes almost obsessive.
