Singer/songwriter and composer-driven project Erev has released its latest single, “Sandbar” which “captures the afterglow of summer – when the water is warmer than the air.” The song aims to “transport to an otherworldly place and time.”

Erev says about the track:

Sonically, “Sandbar” is inspired by campy, Euro-balearic tones and ubiquitous reggaeton rhythms. It was fun pushing these worlds together to see what would happen. This song has become a palate cleanser for me; a reminder to stay open and move with lightness through internal and external changes – a portal of sorts to the unknown.

Erev is the project of songwriter and composer, Matthew David Olerio. Erev was formed in 2019 in coastal Rhode Island as a solo venture, experimenting with minimal, piano and synthesizer driven tones. These improvised recordings took form as the EP Knots in 2021 and LP Notes in 2023.

Along the way, Erev’s sound has evolved with the help of friends and collaborators, including Ambient, Folk and Balearic / Exotica. Within these worlds, “the common thread is found in tinges of nostalgia.”
