Philadelphia-based multi-media artist George Alley has shared the single “XRay” along with a video. It follows his newly released debut LP George Alley. The song examines the subtleties of relationships and our quest for clarity.
Alley says about the new track:
‘XRAY’ is a deep dive into the unseen layers of our connections. It’s about the clarity we seek in relationships—the ability to see through facades and get to the heart of what truly matters. The song captures that moment when you realize someone sees you for who you really are, like an X-ray revealing the hidden truths beneath the surface. Growing up, I was fascinated by cartoons that used gamma rays, X-rays, and other futuristic technologies to uncover the truth or to stun a victim. That sense of revealing what’s hidden, of cutting through the noise to find the core, is exactly what I wanted to bring into this track. When I was thinking of those cartoons I also thought of pop artists like Warhol and Lichtenstein and so director Adam Peditto tried to harness that with the video.
George Alley has worked as a composer, performer, professor, journalist, podcaster, choreographer, and curator. First forming a band in high school with Frank Musarra of Hearts of Darknesses, who he continues to collaborate with on this upcoming album, Alley has been releasing singles, performing, and using his original music for performance and dance pieces as part of his company Alley Ink.
