Hattie Webb’s “Ruined In The Rain” Searches For Internal Wisdom

English singer/songwriter and harpist Hattie Webb has released her new single “Ruined in the Rain” which appears on her forthcoming solo album Wild Medicine.  Her new collection will be released October 25th, 2024 on Hearts Connect Records. Ruined in the Rain” is also accompanied by a video.

“Ruined in the Rain” is an emotive “meditation on suicide. “

Hattie Webb explains:

I have this theory that there can be an original wound in a person, which is often from childhood, and then throughout your life, you go through other deep woundings but somehow they reach back to that original wound.

I know what it’s like to come to a feeling that you’ve reached the end and to feel too ruined to carry on. The ultimate message of the song is to trust ourselves and be guided by our instinct when we feel something isn’t right. That next time, our internal wisdom can show us the way.

The narrative is drawn in part on Hattie’s own experiences but also on the work she’s done with ‘AAFDA – ‘Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse’ a charity that has used another album track, “Never Just Your Daughters” as part of a campaign against gender-based violence and violence against women and girls.

Wild Medicine is Webb’s second solo album, but she began her musical career alongside her sister as a duo known as The Webb Sisters who, in addition to recording and releasing their own music, toured with the likes of Leonard Cohen and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
