Singer/songwriter Domenic Cicala made a decision not only to play music, but to write songs, and that led to some momentous outcomes for him. Shortly thereafter, he became a rhythm guitarist for the Roots Rock band Vincent 52. When the group disbanded in later 2012, Cicala headed back to his original goal of writing music alongside a solo approach. His latest album, Bitter Blues, arrived in Spring of 2024.
We’re very pleased to debut his new song “Vamoose”, here on Wildfire Music + News today. It’s a song that arrives for streaming and purchase on Friday, October 4th, 2024, and hails from an upcoming album arriving in Spring of 2025 that will be comprised of half Country songs and half Rock ‘n Roll songs.
“Vamoose” is a song with multiple dimensions that become even more evident upon reflection. It’s a soothing, almost lulling track with so many warm instrumentals that you’re not as aware of just how hard-hitting the lyrics are until you’ve given it some thought. This makes “Vamoose” a really masterful combination of elements. While it fits pretty clearly within the bounds of a “break-up song,” “Vamoose” digs so deep into hard feelings between two parties that it feels both relatable and uncommon. As two parties tend their emotional wounds and consider their future separately, it’s hard to imagine there’s much room for finding closure, at least not yet. That’s something that usually comes with distance and time, and neither of those luxuries are afforded our characters, who still in the heat of long-boiling arguments feel their shared history mainly as a burden.
The tone and atmosphere of the music on “Vamoose” makes for a very different emotional state, though, which might come closer to reverie or acceptance. Part of that mellowness may relate to the relief one might feel in finally making a decision and breaking out of a painful, or even poisonous, situation. By couching the conflict of the song in traditional sounds, maybe even tapping into the lamentation of a honky tonk vibe, the situation becomes one common to humanity. In that way, “Vamoose” is both dramatic and reassuring, and tells the story of a very human situation faithfully, while offering some consolation to the audience. It takes the sourness of truly acid contention between parties and delivers sweetness with the sounds of accepting life’s hard knocks and moving on.
Domenic Cicala says about the new track:
‘Vamoose’ was written during the Covid lockdown. It captures the unsettled discontent that comes in a relationship that has had a few years under it’s belt. The kind of thing that seemed to happen a bit more frequently when you were housebound together.

On “Vamoose”, Domenic Cicala provides guitar and vocals, Blair Hogan plays lead guitar, Lynn Kasdorf plays steel guitar, Eric Selby plays drums, Bill Starks performs on the piano, and Michelle Hannan adds harmony vocals.
Domenic Cicala also has several shows coming up in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia this Fall.
