Transatlantic Folk Duo Sons of Town Hall have announced their 2025 album that arrive in conjunction with their new podcast, Madmen Cross The Water, where each episode tells the story of each song on the album.

The duo have shared the first single and video for “Gods” with the introductory episode of a “comedy fiction podcast” taking place in the early 1900s about the Folk duo themselves alongside their mythical origin story. Listen here.

The Sons of Town Hall are played by American songwriter and author David Berkeley and British songwriter and producer Ben Parker, both of whom have long musical careers in their own right. The pair dreamed up this project in a London pub nearly a decade ago and have been creating together ever since.

Dressed in threadbare Victorian outfits, their shows are “part concert, part performance art.”

Berkeley says:

It is a kind of performance art, I suppose. We are, in a sense, characters in a fiction we have dreamed up and re-create with our audiences every night.

Parker adds:

…maybe the most surprising benefit of the ‘act,’ is that it allows us to be more honest and direct both in our songwriting and in what we say between our songs about human struggles. The costumes, in the end, somehow enable us to be more ourselves.

The duo are currently on the road through mid November with upcoming dates in Orlando, New York, DC, Richmond, Atlanta, Austin, Cambridge, Portland and Chicago.
