Indie Rock band, The Backfires have released their new single “Dressed For A Funeral” alongside an official music video. The track navigates themes of “loss, introspection, and resignation.”
The band says:
When you see someone after a relationship has ended there are all these nerves that come up. What to wear. What to say. We’ve always been inspired by the way The Cure or The Smiths wrote these happy sounding songs with somber lyrics. In Dressed For A Funeral we wanted to emulate that bitter-sweet feeling you get the first time you see someone after a split.
They continue, sharing about the music video:
Sometimes you can stumble across these everyday moments where you see someone you know nothing about and wonder “what if?” What if you go and say “hello”? And what if there is a connection and it works out? Or what if it doesn’t? Before you get the opportunity for love or heartbreak, there is first the necessary courage of putting yourself out there. That story of the moments before you say “hello” is what drives the video.

In support of their new music, The Backfires will be doing a show in New York on October 2nd at Heaven Can Wait.
