Twice Grammy Award-nominated artist Tycho has shared two new songs from new album, Infinite Health, arriving via Mom + Pop / Ninja Tune. The official visualizer for “Devices” and official music video for “Green” are both out now. The tracks are “contrasting pieces that show the breadth of mood and nuance” on the upcoming album which arrives on August 30th, 2024.

Tycho’s songwriter, musician, and Producer Scott Hansen originally wrote “Devices” for a film soundtrack, but the song ended up on the cutting room floor. Hansen thought of revisiting it for Infinite Health. For him, the track “evokes moving to downtown Sacramento in the late ‘90s, as he fell in love with electronic music and got his creative bearings.”

Hansen recalls:

A couple of my first synths were trance-centric. I wanted to reference them in some way without literally making a song like that.

The counterpart single is “Green,” which is of “utmost personal significance”, since it refers to the river in California near where he grew up.

Hansen adds:

‘Green’ and ‘Devices’ represent the conceptual bookends of the forthcoming album, Infinite Health. ‘Green’ is an elegy to my childhood where I spent my youth forging a deep connection with nature. ‘Devices’ represents the struggle to stay connected to nature and our own humanity in the modern world. I wanted to illustrate this tension with a set of sonically contrasting songs.
