Alternative Rock band Anberlin have announced their upcoming full length album, Vega, due August 2nd 2024 via Equal Vision Records. This marks their first record since announcing the touring departure of vocalist Stephen Christian and the addition of Memphis May Fire’s Matty Mullins. The first single from the record, “Walk Alone”, is out now, with an accompanying music video, which “details the journey of a spouse or partner battling with depression.”
The new collection is “deliberately free-flowing,” with a handful of much heavier tracks, “Industrial exploration,” as well as mellow vibes that fans have become more accustomed to in the band’s 20 year history.
The members of Anberlin did not have any future plans to release new music after taking a five year hiatus. The pandemic was the ultimate catalyst for the writing process which resulted in two EPs released in 2022 and 2023, before finalizing Vega.
On the new chapter of Anberlin, drummer Nate Young explains:
With Anberlin, there’s been multiple eras of our career. This new era with Matty Mullins is one we couldn’t be more stoked on. As all things, you never know how long this time will be, but we’re sure gonna lean all the way in and enjoy the hell out of the process.
Anberlin will be hitting the road this summer on the 20 Years of Tears amphitheater tour, their most expansive tour in a decade, hosted by Emo band Hawthorne Heights. The 56-date run also includes performances by Thursday, Saosin, Cartel, Armor For Sleep and more.
