MAITA has shared new track “i used to feel different,” the latest single from the album want, which releases July 26, 2024 via Fluff & Gravy Records. The song “yearns for the state of wonderment we feel when we’re young.”
Bandleader Maria Maita-Keppeler says:
The upbeat song of the record, it explores the wistful desire to return to a state of wonderment we had when we were younger. For me, personally, I remember a time of creative abundance, freed from the need to work and think about money. Modern adult life can feel so constricting and regimented, and I romanticize the idea of a world of art, love, and ease.
Recorded at Echo Echo in Portland, Oregon, the album features Indie Rock and highs and lows that lead to a goal of “wanting without guilt.”
Led by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Maria Maita-Keppeler, MAITA also features guitarist/producer Matthew Zeltzer as well as multi-instrumentalists Nevada Sowle and Cooper Trail, a bass and drums duo from Moscow, Idaho.
The band has toured across the US and Europe, garnered featured slots at SXSW and Treefort, and opened for the likes of Mirah, Blind Pilot, Horse Feathers and Typhoon.
