Nashville-based artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Dex Green has shared his new single “Days Fly By,” the latest from his upcoming debut album Imaginary War, out June 28th, 2024 via 3Sirens Music Group. Arriving with a black-and-white music video, “Days Fly By” finds Green “meditating on the passage of time.”

On the new single, Green says:

This was the first song I wrote for the record. I was jamming around on the drum kit exploring rhythmic ideas born out of Louisiana rhythm and blues. After adding some melody from a Roland Juno synth and some harmony from a Hammond organ, I started to stumble into some kind of retro-future-arcade-groove trip.

He adds:

I had such a blast making the music video for ‘Days Fly By’ with the great Hannah Hall at the helm. I love Hannah’s style and ‘lens-side manner’. We sat down at the 3Sirens studio one afternoon to discuss a direction for the video and I told her about some of the creative process used in the making of the record. One key element being that I had the ’60s French New Wave film Last Year at Marienbad by Alain Resnais on loop in the background as I wrote and recorded. It kind of seemed like a no-brainer to use the film as a jumping-off point for the video.

Hannah cooked up a killer treatment and of course we had to do it in black and white as an homage to the film. I was honored to have some of my close friends join me in the video. There are appearances by Aaron Lee Tasjan, Audley Freed, Jen Gunderman, Heather Gillis, Ray Jacildo, Bob Lewis and Kevin Black, as well as Julia Knight in the lead role.

Over the years, Green has built a cross-genre community in Nashville, working behind-the-scenes as a collaborator with artists such as Elvis Costello, Margo Price, Nicole Atkins, Aaron Lee Tasjan and Shemekia Copeland, which resulted in a Grammy nomination for his work mixing and engineering her 2022 album Done Come Too Far. Additionally, he has enjoyed a long-time partnership with The Grahams’ 3Sirens Music Group as a Producer.
