Futurebirds Release Three Song EP Ahead Of ‘Easy Company’ Full-Length

Athens, GA Indie Rock band Futurebirds have announced the upcoming release of their new album, Easy Company, on August 9th, 2024. To give listeners a taste of the album, the band have released the Easy Company EP today, a 3-song teaser with a song from each of the band’s distinct front men. The tracks “Colorados,” “Bloom,” and “Up and Out,” are available now.

Led by singers/songwriters Daniel Womack, Thomas Johnson, and Carter King, Easy Company celebrates their close relationship since 2008. In the meantime, they’ve become headliners at venues like The Ryman and The Fillmore, collaborating with artists like My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel along the way.

They team up with new partners on Easy Company, which was recorded with Producer Brad Cook in the border town of Tornillo, TX. The guest list includes Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield and Drive-By Truckers co-founder Patterson Hood, who delivers a spoken-word monologue during “Soft Drugs.”

Thomas Johnson says:

We really leaned into the 3 songwriter aspect of our band on the recording session for our new album Easy Company.  Having 3 songwriters keeps any one person from carrying the load of pushing the band forward with new music, and also keeps the music from feeling monotonous.  As such, it didn’t feel right to put out just 1 single, so we bring you the Easy Company EP, a song each from Carter, myself, and Daniel to wet your whistle until the full length drops August 9th!

For the video [for “Up and Out”], I put on my favorite faux-fur coat (on loan from my lady) and took the boys down to the dock, one of my favorite pastimes.  This video was a blast for us to film, between the chaos on the dock scenes and the merry-go-round madness, this felt like a video I would have filmed with my friends in the 90s, and I love that.
