Blitz Vega, the project of the late Andy Rourke and Kav Sandhu, has released new single “Disconnected” from their upcoming album Northern Gentlemen, which arrives on April 26th, 2024, from FutureSonic Records. The song centers on “the need to disengage from the addicting and often triggering social media world.” It also emphasizes returning to the real and physical world.

Kav Sandhu explains:

We originally started recording ‘Disconnected‘ in July 2019 in a studio in Echo Park, Los Angeles. Andy [Rourke] came in with the bassline and we built a song around it.

Formed in 2016 before the pandemic and culminating with Andy Rourke’s tragic passing from cancer in May 2023, Blitz Vega was launched when Kav Sandhu (formerly of Happy Mondays) and the late Andy decided to record together “after years of mutual artistic admiration.” As Rourke’s posthumous album, Northern Gentlemen is a bittersweet celebration of the impact he had on the music world.

Kav Sandhu reflects:

‘Northern Gentlemen’ is a diary of the last seven years of the journey that Andy, the band and I went on recording this music as Blitz Vega. Every song tells a story and ‘Disconnected’ takes me back to a particularly poignant memory driving to the studio before we recorded the song. I hear his voice in my head, replaying everything we talked about when we were recording the music. I see his face smiling at me.
