Memphis, Tennessee-based artist Chris Milam is getting ready to release his third album, Orchid South, a Rock record inspired by the music and events of his teenage years. It arrives on May 10th, 2024 on M Records. He has shared the title track, out now.

Set firmly in 1990s Memphis, Orchid South blends ‘90s Indie- and Alt-Rock as well as Memphis Power Pop.

Milam shares:

This is the album I’ve wanted to make since I picked up a guitar. It’s about my teenage years, but it’s also written from a teenager’s perspective: the stories, sights, sounds, and music I experienced as a kid growing up in Memphis. The title track is a good first impression: big, layered power-pop for the big, layered feelings of adolescence. I wanted to capture how heightened everything feels at that age, when driving through an earthquake and seeing your crush both feel like existential crises.

Milam has set album release tour dates in Chicago, LA, NYC, Portland, Denver, Baltimore, and beyond.

Milam’s first two albums were titled Kids These Days and Meanwhile. He has collaborated and shared bills with William Bell, Valerie June, Amanda Shires, Cory Branan, Garrison Starr, and more.
