Joh Chase’s “Avalanche” Is About The Transformational Power Of Love

Queer Alt-Folk artist Joh Chase’s upcoming album Solo will be arriving on April 26th, 2024 via Kill Rock Stars and blends different genre accents and approaches and also evolves in terms of their musical themes.

While Joh Chase was raised Evangelical and originally wrote songs that grappled with leaving the church, Chase found an outlet in introspective songwriting.

They say:

My brain is completely filled with the music I was raised on: Elton John, The Cranberries, Bonnie Raitt, and the Mamas and the Papas. I will always think of my music through that template while trying to find a place for myself in the world and pushing the boundaries of that.

The album’s lead single “Avalanche” is out now and reflects some of the adventurous sound of the album. Chase jokes that the song feels like Blues meets Brandi Carlile.

They comment:

This song is about the transformational power of love in that it’s not what you think it is all the time. I feel like it really represents my life. It’s very personal for sure.
