Ethan Larsh’s “The Last Big Score” Chases Springsteen’s Promised Land

Indie Americana artist Ethan Larsh has released “The Last Big Score”, the first single from his upcoming Into Thine Kingdom of Heaven album, due for release on March 8th, 2024 via Alley Cat Studios. The Folk-Rock song has retro elements and took some inspiration from Bruce Springsteen.

Discussing his latest single, Ethan Larsh writes:

“The Last Big Score” tells the story of a man who robs a bank to impress his girlfriend, only to die and be greeted by her in heaven after he dies.  The song’s inspiration came from Bruce Springsteen’s line in Thunder Road, “we’re going to chase the promised land.”  It inspired me to try to write something to rival the feeling that line gave me.  My goal was to have the song build to a climax of fevered vocals and brass (featuring my father playing trombone).

Larsh continues:

It took me 15 minutes to write this song after I stopped taking my psych medicine (I feel there’s a lot of stigma associated with mental illness and don’t feel uncomfortable talking about it). I had delusions that God was helping me write songs. The song “The Last Big Score” was written in 15 minutes with what I perceived to be help from a higher power.  Many songs on my upcoming album, Into Thine Kingdom of Heaven, were written with similar assistance.

In the video, I tried to illustrate the magic that occurs in band practice, one of my favorite places to be, surrounded by beautiful souls who support my creative visions.
